Thanks!
chihuahua41101/14 10:13am
P to the s: they are using the unofficial lists.
MaeDay01/14 10:44am
Anyone know if they're using heels or flats?
showbizgirl01/14 12:17pm
Monitor said flats for the singer/mover call :)
chihuahua41101/14 12:27pm
How's the 1pm men's singer list looking?
catchthatdirt01/14 12:31pm
164 an the list is combined with men and women.
Nattalyee01/14 12:54pm
What was the dance for the singer/mover call like? I'm thinking of going tomorrow, but I'm not the best dancer in the world...
Krayola3301/14 1:19pm
Not difficult, but FAST with a lot of weight changes....so...difficult.
MaeDay01/14 2:35pm
Honestly, the dance call was taught so fast it seemed like a dancer call...had it been taught in 30 mins instead of 10...it would totally be considered a mover call. Not extremely hard, just taught very fast and the song is fast.
Nattalyee01/14 2:37pm
Can somebody elaborate on what the singer call was like? How many people were seen? Did you move first and sing after?
Newbie01/14 3:21pm
Ok here's the scoop on the "Singer" call. I put the word singer in quotes because only a few were actually called back to sing. So really I wouldn't call it a singer call, since the decision was made SOLEY upon the moving/dancing portion. I, for one, was really dissapointed to not be able to sing at a singing audition... Is it just me or does that seem a little screwy? Obviously it's non-union so they can do whatever they want, but why have two separate calls, one for dancers and one for singers if you are just going to have them both dance and then making singing the callback audition?
Also, I believe that everyone that showed up for the 1pm call got seen in one of the dancing groups.
AaronBooth8901/14 3:38pm
Thanks a bunch for all the information! Going to warm up a bunch before the "mover" call tomorrow.
Break legs!
LilMermaid6601/14 5:19pm
So...what you're saying is that if I just show up at 1pm tomorrow I will get seen because they are starting with a dance call for singers???
OKDiva01/14 7:23pm
Probably, but I would show up earlier (like 9 or 10) and get on the list, just to make sure you are seen in a timely fashion. It was crazy there, and most of us were waiting on the floor in the hallway. They were taking us into the room about 30 at a time and then after we learned the combination we did it in groups of 4.
AaronBooth8901/14 7:26pm
wait, I am confused...so at 1pm tomorrow they will not be having the "singers who dance" sing first. It will be a dance call first?
mmcalum01/15 12:42am
At the singer/ mover call you will dance first and then you will sing IF you get called back.
AaronBooth8901/15 7:54am
What time did they start collecting headshots yesterday for the dancer call?
LadyLuck01/15 8:06am
Everyone at the singer call will get seen. There were about 180 people at the singer call yesterday. EVERYONE got seen. The time for the dance cut was 1-3. I you are asked back they will sing you in half hour time slots from 3:00-5:30. If you get kept from that, you will be asked to do the dance combo again and tape it. And then do a double turn on tape. It seemed like singing groups had about 5-7 people an then 2-3 got asked to do the combo a last time.
I understand why people were upset because it was a singer call...BUT it's Joseph and Grease. EVERYONE must dance in grease ensamble. Plus, it is indeed musical theatre where people are expected to do anything and everything right? Plus the rehearsal process is about 2-2.5 weeks so relatively fast so I think they also needed to see who learns it fast. They kept people
Who got most of the steps but put personality into it without looking scared. He taught it really fast, but I think that's why they weren't expecting perfect steps.
I'd say, if you feel like you are a strong singer but 'depends
On the brain' that day as a dancer, and you are right for either show---GO! You never know If you will
Book it unless you actually get seen. A dance audition is always an experience...good or bad!! I hope this helps.
Break legs everyone!!!!
Bumblebee101/15 8:49am
That's the Palace Theater for ya, they always make everyone dance first and their dance calls are always RIDICULOUS, but to be fair they did specify that singers would dance first in their Backstage post.
