Does anyone happen to know how many AEA contracts Interlakes has/usually uses? I know this is a random question.
I would actually love to know the answer to this.....I'm going to be quite ticked off if I go tomorrow and am wasting my time due to this "not enough equity contracts" crap
this is their first year as a union house so im guessing nobody knows. But in my experience with theatres like this on a similar contract, i would guess 1-2 principals, and 1-2 chorus.
I tried looking at their website. Last year's playbill listed one AEA male, but I couldn't tell if anyone was jobbed in since the playbill only listed full season actors. Especially as a leading lady type female, I'm trying to weigh the cost to come in and do the epa (and therefore not take a teaching job), with the possibility of a job. Sometimes it is so hard to juggle everything!
I was told one equity contract per show.
P.S. the theatre is in a high school auditorium just so no one is surprised.

I was also told by someone I know who works at the theatre it is 1 per show. But if they were really in a pinch they would take on another AEA contract. It is a matter of money.
Wow......don't do shows like les mis and dreamgirls then?!! Such a waist of time to hold an EPA......hold open calls and THEN take submissions for the roles you can't cast? Is me or is it absolutely retarded to have an EPA for such big shows with big roles if you can only afford 1 equity contract.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have an EPA if they are only using one contract. Plus, what was done before isn't being done now-didn't they just go equity?
EPAs are required by the union. They probably were offered a concession to allow 1 day epa instead of 3 days due to the number of contracts.

I thought they "recently went equity". If that's true, why would that equal ONE contract?
They did not recently go equity, they had one contract last year according to the 2011 playbill on their web-site. However, they may have changed contract types? That I don't know. Maybe last year they were guest artist and this year SPT? Just guessing? I'm sure whoever thought they just turned union has more info on that than I do.
Sorry if I opened up a huge bag of worms. I was just trying to figure out if the EPA was worth losing a day of teaching over, which, for me, it looks like it isn't.
The required number of contracts depends on the contract size - i.e. - Guest Artist, SPT 1, SPT 2, LORT, etc, the cast sizes, and any concessions AEA gave when setting up the theatre's contracts.
No nothing to apologize for, I am feeling the same way which is why I'm asking :) I definitely don't want to go if they truly only have one contract per show...
Yep....still doesn't make sense why they would go from guest artist to spt contract that would require them to hold an EPA if they are only going to have a hand full of equity contracts for 5 shows two of them requiring huge sustainable casts...maybe those of u who know people affiliated with the theatre enough to know how many contracts they have available? Can ask that dear informative friend to clarify what they need from equity members who live lives have jobs and love doing shows but would like to be efficient with their time and not go to calls that list roles as available but that are really being held out for somebody that they don't have to pay that well.....sorry to vent but this is an ongoing problem with regional theaters...I just simply don't understand y they can't list certain roles they are looking to cast union or mention that the call is "required".....or just save a whole lot of time and remain a house that is nonunion if ur that broke....just sayin
I do agree with the wish that they would note next to roles: will consider AEA, specifically looking for EMC or non-union. Some theatre's do actually do this (Cape May had some notes in their breakdown). It is frustrating, but, I would rather they have 1 contract than no contracts. While it might not be me, somebody will get a job on that one contract.
I agree! I'm in total agreement with that just be clear about what you need!....who wants to have an 8 hour audition day full of people singing for the gods but you don't really need them cause you can't afford them?! That's silly.
