• Post- "audition season" venting... 03/07/2018  1:46pm

I have been/am out of the city working for all of January, February, and March. Of course I have continued to creep all of the audition notices, as well as audition update during this time, but am cringing at all of the stuff I am missing. I am especially hoping to do another cruise contract, and I feel like I have missed literally EVERY call for every cruise line in existence in the last couple of months (yeah I know I could self-tape, but I feel like they see so many great options in person that taping wouldn't get much response). Anyone else feeling like if they don't book something during this "prime season" they are screwed for the summer months, etc? I've had summer work every year I've been in the city so far so this is making me feel anxious and stressed that an audition drought is upon me. I know we all have our own variations of this feeling right now if we haven't booked anything, but just wanted to vent. Anyone have any fun anecdotes of booking a solid non-eq gig for the coming months in April or later to give some of us some hope? haha. Hope everyone stays safe and warm out there today!!!

Yo make friends with someone in that booth and get copy of your production show. That makes for a great submission, cut down into a sizzle reel.

See if maybe there are any upcoming contracts available with the company you're already working for. I was in the same boat last year and that's what I did.

I got my summer contract last year in late april/early may, from a video. Never know!~

While it definitely does trickle, some theatres still have calls in April and May for later-summer seasons. Don't fret yet!!

I once booked a solid 2.5 month summer gig in mid May off a self tape!
