Audition Update is moving. Click here to learn more.

Hello Everyone,

You’ve heard us talking about it all summer, and we’re finally ready to show you what we’ve been working on. I’m proud to announce that AuditionUpdate.com is moving to its new home on the Backstage Community.

What are the benefits of this new location? It’s anonymous, it's mobile-friendly, it’s easier to police spam content and fake accounts, and best of all, it has collapsed threads! In addition, our developer team will be able to make changes, fix bugs, and implement new features much faster and easier on this new platform.

You’ll notice there’s a banner across the top of the screen here advertising the new location. If you click through that link, it will bring you to the registration screen where you can create your account and automatically receive the “Veteran” flair for being an Audition Update user. Even if you already have a Backstage account, clicking through the link will grant you the flair automatically so everyone will know you’ve been here a while and know what you’re talking about.

We’ll be decommissioning this forum slowly over the coming weeks, so you should save any threads or details that you want to reference later at your earliest convenience.

We know this will really help to improve things here at Audition Update, and we want to thank you - the community - for being here with us through the whole process.

They just announced that the Broadway cover for Evan/Connor/Jared will be headlining the tour. That’s great, I totally understand why a team would choose someone they trust for such a huge role.

But then why did they bother with those huge open calls and waste the time of all those hopeful young men all over the country? Seems like a publicity stunt rather than an actual search.

    ‡‡‡

To be fair, I double checked both those open call postings and neither specified Broadway or Tour. BUT...your point still stands. Why do it if your going to cast someone who you know and trust? Which of course is fine, that’s normal. But who knows, could be for future purposes also.

Maybe they didn’t find anyone they liked? Maybe one of them will be the understudy? Broadway replacement? I’m sure they have people on file from those auditions and they weren’t for show.

I know a few people from all over the country who have had "Work sessions" with the team - some right out of college, some seasoned professionals, but none of them NYC based.

That said, I think it's kind of shitty to make someone fly to NYC regularly and then they don't cast. Like, it's 2018, SKYPE people, video auditions, etc. It's rude.

    Is this fully cast then?
