  • SAG question ? 05/22/2018  9:20am

Not sure if I should ask here but I have a question about SAG and was hoping some of you more experienced actors could offer some advice. I am non-union and was cast in a SAG feature film, so do I get SAG points or voucher that will help me get closer to joining the union? What’s the process for that?

check , look for eligibility FAQ. if you have additional questions, call the SAGAFTRA NY local office, they are very helpful.
Also, questions like this better posted on the Bitching Post....

My advice would be NOT to join until you are forced to so you can continue to work non union and build your reel. Use this project as leverage to get other SAG work then join when you absolutely must, after 3 gigs I believe. Trust me.

Did you have to do a Taft-Hartley form? If so you are now eligible to join, but 214zzz is so right in saying that just because you are eligible does not mean you should join. It only makes sense to join once you are forced and/or are positioned to book more SAG work which can take a while. Congrats on booking the part though (yay so exciting!!!!) and best of luck to you!!
