Audition Update is moving. Click here to learn more.

Hello Everyone,

You’ve heard us talking about it all summer, and we’re finally ready to show you what we’ve been working on. I’m proud to announce that is moving to its new home on the Backstage Community.

What are the benefits of this new location? It’s anonymous, it's mobile-friendly, it’s easier to police spam content and fake accounts, and best of all, it has collapsed threads! In addition, our developer team will be able to make changes, fix bugs, and implement new features much faster and easier on this new platform.

You’ll notice there’s a banner across the top of the screen here advertising the new location. If you click through that link, it will bring you to the registration screen where you can create your account and automatically receive the “Veteran” flair for being an Audition Update user. Even if you already have a Backstage account, clicking through the link will grant you the flair automatically so everyone will know you’ve been here a while and know what you’re talking about.

We’ll be decommissioning this forum slowly over the coming weeks, so you should save any threads or details that you want to reference later at your earliest convenience.

We know this will really help to improve things here at Audition Update, and we want to thank you - the community - for being here with us through the whole process.

– The Backstage Community Team

I wanted to get some info/ insight on a recent commercial gig I was asked to do. A month ago, I submitted for a commercial gig via Playbill. Around early October, I got contacted by a guy named Alexander Castro at Panamera Productions. He said he was interested in working with me and after giving him some baseline info (measurements, etc.), he sent over a contract for me to sign. A few days ago, he sent me a check in the mail for a large sum of money that was going to be from my wardrobe. He warned me that the check would be from his "sponsor" company. However, I'm just getting a weird feeling about all of this. Alexander Castro keeps texting me asking if I've deposited the check, and that I'm stalling production by not doing so yet.

If anyone has any insight into working with this company, or to steer clear, that would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Confused, but also naive

THIS IS A HUGE SCAM. Do NOT deposit that check and stop talking to them. No one operates this way in the business. You will never receive a check for your wardrobe. This is a classic scam that pops up under different names on Playbill all the time. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Yes SCAM!!! they do this through babysitting sites and for all other jobs. Personal assistant was the one that I got a reply for. I never gave more info but they’re doing this scam ALL over now and with different job descriptions!

I GOT ASKED TO DO A COMMERCIAL W THEM AS WELL! I realized it was a scam when I couldn't google the the company, the only way you could access their website was from their link & they asked ME what role I wanted and when I wanted to work...

I got the same email and sniffed this out as a scam right away. Something... well, everything just seemed off. Stay away. Glad to know I was right.
