• NAB - Scam (once again) 01/11/2018  12:45pm

Just heads up. Another company called Whitefield Films is doing that song and dance of giving you money for your wardrobe for a UPS commercial and they pay your back etc. It was on Playbill and i just received that classic lengthy email about how I need to pay for my clothes blah blah blah. Don’t be duped.

I saw that listing...I was like. "in what world does a legit need for a UPS commercial put a public listing playbill or any public forum?"

I know 🙄🙄🙄 I have no idea why I emailed them in the first place. So dumb.

'ppreciate it. I'd emailed the Purple Tulip folks (who'd posted on Actors Access)! This must be the same scam.

I got the same thing. Stupidly replied with my info without thinking and as soon as I sent it I was like, wow. I'm dumb. haha

Just don’t cash that check!! If they respond to you I wouldn’t respond at all.

agreed. I blocked their email address and filtered it. Won't cash the check! Thank you again for posting this :)

I have always wondered if there is a way to reverse the same scam on these mathafuckers...like, could you cash it under a fake account or something? I don’t know but I would LOVE to hear of something happenin like that to them...

I can’t belive people still fall for that scam. How stupid can you be???? Desperate actors are the best people to scam.

Rain on my Parade, since the check they send you is fake, it doesn't matter where you deposit it or cash it - it doesn't affect them either way, sadly. The key to the scam is that after depositing the fake check, the victim withdraws money and sends it to the scammers via Western Union (for "wardrobe" or whatever) - that's how they get the victim's money.

I think getting the word out there ASAP when we see these from online is key. This company even has a fancy website to make them look real. Also. Since posting I’ve notified Playbill and they’ve said they’d remove the posting.

If you see the listing on Backstage can you please link it on here? Thanks, guys! I know it's on Playbill, but if it makes its way here, let us know.
