• NAB: Classes question 02/13/2018  11:50am

I guess this is more of a practical question about the cost of classes...

I was searching around for some audition classes this morning and ran into a class offered at www.actorsloftnyc.com that cost $140 for a 3 hour audition class, then found the exact same person teaching the same class (3 hour audition class) the next week for $79 at www.savemyaudition.com

What gives? Why the wildly different prices? Clearly I want to spend almost 50% less with save my audition, but how it is so much cheaper?

Has anyone taken classes with either Actors Loft or Save My Audition? Experiences?

    Genuinely confused.

Edit: The class is only $130 at Actor's Loft, sorry, typo!

    Super valid question...

Could be a different class size, could be a different amount of time. Maybe one is more of a masterclass as opposed to something else...look at the details of the class to make sure you are getting your money’s worth either way. Call and ask even.

For what it’s worth, I’ve only ever taken Bob Cline’s multi-week class through Actor’s Loft which I HIGHLY recommend. I don’t know that he teaches anywhere else...

    Hey! SaveMyAudition.com here!

I can answer this question from our side of things, I can't speak for Actor's Loft.

But I've made it my goal to offer amazing instructors for affordable prices. None of the classes offered through us are more than $79/class (was original $89 but just changed our pricing model).

We also limit our classes to 12 students max. Once you get over 12 students no one really gets to work. Most other classes (Actor's Loft, The Growing Studio, etc.) cap their classes at 14-16 which I strongly feel does a disservice to you as an actor. So not only do you get more affordable classes with Save My Audition, you get more time to work.

The reason I can charge less for classes is because I am not a full blown studio with a staff to pay. I'm just me, taking my experience and my connection with some amazing people and using it to get them in front of you for as low a price as possible. Plus I don't have to pay a pianist since I am a pianist that plays auditions constantly. So bonus for you!

Come join us! Michael's class is $79 for a 3 hour class with 12 students maximum! We also have a Music Director series coming up with 4 top Broadway music people for only $299 (that's $75 a class).

So with Save My Audition you get cheaper classes AND more time to work.

That got a little self-promotional, sorry, but I hope it answers your question. It's still a brand new business and you should see some of the classes I am arranging for the future. Plus we always offer at least one free class a month!

I took two classes with Save My Audition in January and they were awesome. The class size is perfect. Nothing feels rushed and there is plenty of time for each performer to get some solid feedback AND for the teacher to do a q&a. Also, because Aaron is the accompanist...this cuts out the middle man which is nice. He gets to know the cuts in your book that you use a lot and it just makes things more comfortable. I would highly recommend.
