They are a relatively new theatre company- and they are fantastic. They offer emc points and pay and located in beautiful Orange County, CA. I did two shows with them and saw all of their other shows. Incredible! Definitely someone you want on your res- they are gonna be big. They dont audition in NY yet but they do take video submissions.
Piggy backing off of that: I haven't had the time to be in any of their shows unfortunately, but I've seen just about every one they've done so far (I'm from California), and they are TOP notch. I've given a standing ovation every show. I've had so many friends work with them and rave. An amazing opportunity!
Why not mention how bad the pay is though? That's the straw the breaks the back. They pay sh*t.
I’ve worked on 3 productions for this company and had an overall great experience. They were always on top of everything especially the schedule so you aren’t just sitting down doing nothing, very easy to communicate with and always were professional. With that said I have heard (from a couple of friends) about miss communication between the production team and creative team on a few productions (I haven’t worked on) that were a bit messy.
I do have to say the pay for non-union performers sucks! While I was there non-union paid anywhere from $600-$1,000 for the entire run while AEA union rates were around $500 a week but good luck trying to get a contract if you’re not the leads. I haven’t heard of them giving an AEA contract to an ensemble member unless they were the dance captain.
Personally I would work with this company again but only if I received an AEA contract. Although the production quality is very high (except the wigs) they tend to use the same creative team and hire the same people. I mean that’s good for me but I would like to work with different choreographers and directors. So all in all - I would only do this for the money because chances are they will not be doing original show choreography/staging/direction.
